Open Source Education Reading, Writing ... and Open Source
Open source backers like IBM and Red Hat are leading efforts to get students interested in open source while they are still in school. A group calling itself POSITIVE, whose backers include the German government and Wireless Services Asia, is making it easier for universities in the Philippines to add open source to their course offerings. Lotus Learning Systems Society and Red Hat India have teamed to offer training in open source skills to teachers and students in India's national schools. IBM recently made a $2.1 million donation to The Executive Leadership Foundation to further education in open source technologies like Linux, DB2, Java and Rational at historically black colleges and universities in the United States.
