Don't Rush Selection of Outsourcing ProviderWhile outsourcing IT tasks can solve a number of business problems, the effort can fail without the proper relationships behind it. Analyzing and defining business problems before the search for an outsourcing partner even begins is the first step. Selecting the right vendor is key. Some suggestions: Visit the vendor's site and launch a test project before the final selection. Be wary of a hard sell. Remember the larger objectives. Despite warnings about putting too much emphasis on low costs during vendor selection, 57 percent of respondents to Enterprise Systems' 2006 Outsourcing Survey said that price was the key factor in choosing a vendor. References and/or vendor reputation were only cited by 12 percent of respondents.
