Big Companies Reject Pensions

Only 37 of Fortune 100 companies offered traditional pensions in 2005, down from nearly 90 in 1985, according to a survey by Watson Wyatt. The human resources consulting firm found that the number of hybrid plans -- essentially company-sponsored 401(k)s with no employee contribution -- have also fallen.
