Because practitioners belong at once to their communities of practice and to their work teams, they are the direct "carriers" of knowledge. If a new solution is proposed in their community, they can apply it to their work. If they discover a new solution in their work, they can share it with their community. Such multi-membership avoids many of the hand-off problems that arise when specialists manage knowledge for others to apply. This is why it is important to have the practitioners themselves be in charge of managing their own knowledge, no matter how much assistance they receive in the process. Source: Famous Forecasting Quotes Subject: Future Author: Jay A. Conger Quote: In the early stages of your career, you build advancement through your expertise, but as you get higher, more and more of what you do is managing. As that shift occurs, charisma becomes more important. The more your job requires an ability to motivate and inspire, an ability to bring about change, the more helpful it is to have charisma. Source: Business Finance Subject: Career Author: Sumantra Ghoshal Quote: At what rate should a company grow? I think this is a very important issue for senior management. When you talk about sustainable development, it does not apply only to society and the planet. Issues of sustainable development apply to a company's growth. I think that many of the management practices that have evolved over the last two-and-a-half decades have had little regard for concepts like sustainable development. I think they need to be brought back in. If all you want is the superstars, if all you want is the highest-priced earnings ratios and the like, then you create a system that is inherently unstable and will be more likely to unravel in one form or another. The first and larger class will spend incredible amounts of time to save money. The second will spend incredible amounts of money to save time. Title: not sure about the timing Category: Business - Career - All Industry: ANY Question: Hi all, This may sound little naive so plz feel f|ree to contribute
I am software engineer for a consultant company; we provide on-site support for cell phone manufacturers.
I have been out of college for 2 years, I dont see my self as a developer for the long future, I hope to garner as much experience for the next 2 years before making a jump into management position/senior eng position.
I want to get my MBA, i have been researching online schools (only online cause my current job requires relocation for different projects) such as Penn state, Arizona State.
I am just not sure if an MBA is 2 early for me at this point, and i think sometimes being 2 early is like being wrong :-)
Any thoughts? Experiences?
Regards
