Choosing Your Outsourcing Partner

Once the decision to outsource has been made, the hard part's over, isn't it? Maybe not. The question then becomes, "Which vendor is right?" Our research has uncovered several things to keep in mind: If you're considering a small- to medium-size business, think about using a pilot project, and seek customer referrals during the project bidding stage. If an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) fits the bill, identify the skill sets necessary to bring the product to market, but remember that the relationship between the parties is of utmost importance. The key there, of course, is communication. Finally, if you're about to renew an existing outsourcing contract, now's the time to push for a better deal at a better price.
