Wal-Mart wants a bank, must face critics at FDIC hearingWal-Mart Stores Inc. today will ask the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. for permission to open an in-house bank to process checks and credit card payments. The FDIC will hold public hearings on the request, which has generated "an unprecedented flood of comments," according to the Associated Press.
