Offshoring Still the Elephant in the Room

IT Jungle: Despite the fact that offshore outsourcing continues to rise in popularity, as shown in an Association for Computing Machinery report, it's still the elephant in the room that hardly anyone is willing to talk about. That's even true for IBM, which will be moving its solutions design and development for its SOA-based business consulting offerings to its new Global Business Solutions Center in India. Despite that announcement, IBM was unwilling to say anything more about its offshore effort. This article goes on to examine the current state of offshore outsourcing as it pertains to the iSeries space. One key point is that businesses are now setting up onshore U.S.-run interfaces to make their offshore resources more user-friendly. This new level of project management will help companies reap the rewards, while avoiding more of the backlash.
