Podcast Hijacker Claims It Was Just Business
Imagine you wake up one day and find out that the phone
company has redirected your business calls to your biggest
competitor. That's what happened, basically, to Erik Marcus'
Podcast--his service provider redirected his Podcast feeds
to point to his own feed instead. Was it just "good business"
--or hijacking and distortion? Read our story for details,
but from where I sit, this is bad news all around.

AOL Developing Podcast Search System
Here's an interesting idea--instead of relying on Podcast
show notes, why not just do speech recognition on the darn
things to make them easier to search. That's what AOL is up
to--and we've got the details. Check out our story for those
details, along with news from the Search Engine Strategies
Show, which is going on right now.

Blaster Worm Just Won't Quit
It came out in the summer of 2003, and it just won't quit.
Like the common cold, it keeps coming back and back and back.
Almost a thousand copies of Blaster are removed from systems
every day, and some experts think we'll never be free of the
nastybot. What makes the worm so hard to eradicate? What
about Sasser? (Remember that one?) Our story explores why
these infections have hung around, while others have come
and gone.

Answers to Your Vexing Office Problems
Do you use Microsoft Office? Do you have problems? If the
answer to the first one is yes, the answer to the second one
is most likely the same. But when you have problems, we have
answers! Specifically, we've got four in-depth features that
deliver answers to many problems inside Word, PowerPoint,
Excel and Outlook--along with a set of suggestions to make
the entire shebang work better. If you struggle with Office--
and let's face it, most of us do--then you need to read our
stories!

Dvorak Bemoans the Death of X-Specific Domain
Why not have a special domain just for pornography and other
smut? That was John Dvorak's idea, and it finally looked
like it was going to become a reality--until ICANN killed it
a few days ago. Why? A bunch of misguided fundamentalists
seemed to think it was a bad idea, and wrote letters in
protest. The action is misguided, says Dvorak, as the new
domain would make it easier to filter the Web, not harder.
Read his commentary--and apparently eulogy--for his creative
initiative to create a red light district on the Web. It was
a good idea 10 years ago, and it's still a good idea today!

Put Video on Your iPod
So you've got a shiny new video iPod--or you think you'll
get one for Christmas (or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or at one of
those wacky Winter Solstice celebrations). Those devices are
great, but what if you want to load a bunch of your own
videos on it? How do you load up that home video of Uncle
Ernie in the Pan outfit? Or Aunt Effie, masquerading as "Bad
Santa"? Once again, we're here to help--with detailed
instructions on how to feed video into that iPod. Even Mr.
Hanky could follow these directions!

A Cheap DVD Camcorder Just in Time for Holiday Parties
Whatever you decide to celebrate between now and New Year's,
videos make remembering what happened so much easier. Even
better, if you can catch your boss swigging scotch from his
secretary's slipper, there might be a raise in it for you
too! But only if you capture those moments in living color.
DVD camcorders offer some of the best ways to quickly capture
and show off those embarrassing moments, but until now they've
been priced closer to a kilobuck than a fin. Not anymore!
We just took a close look at Panasonic's new mini-DVD
camcorder, which clocks in at a (mere) $550. Worth the price?
Check out our review, and order one today--that big event is
coming up, and we've got the best reviews and the best prices
in town!

Amazing Wearable Computer Woven into Fabric
Now this is cool. Imagine sensors and a computer wired into
your jacket! We had Eleksen come in and show off this nifty
new technology that can turn a piece of clothing into a
touch- and pressure-sensitive interface to all manner of
technology products. What can you do with it? Well, imagine
stroking your jacket to control your iPod. Think the neighbors
might look askance? Check out our story, with photos, more
details and a lot more. When it comes to clothes, soon we'll
be concerned with more than just the label.

spinning dradles. Worried about ruining the case? We've got
you covered, with step-by-step instructions on how, exactly,
to paint that case with style. If you want to spice up your
life, start with that drab PC!

Why Intel Is So Bad at PC Games
It's common knowledge that AMD runs rings around Intel when
it comes to PC games. Why is that? ExtremeTech did a little
digging and uncovered some pretty interesting facts--
including some nonoptimized code and other inexcusable
failures. Check out their analysis for why Intel is so bad--
and what they could do to close the gap.
